Aims:
- Encourage a better understanding of bunker related issues among Members
- Provide guidance for the promotion of the interests of Members with regard to bunker issues, including health and safety as well as environmental protection issues
- Keep Members updated on a regular basis

Bunker Sub-Committee
The INTERTANKO Bunker Sub Committee’s aim is to foster INTERTANKO Members’ interests and give guidance in relation to issues concerning bunkers, their purchase, sampling, testing, quality and use.
1. Members
The Bunker Sub Committee is a closed forum. The Committee’s membership should comprise a minimum of three members with a knowledge of the purchase and use of bunkers. In addition there will be invited participation by ABS, DnV and Lloyds, as the principal providers of information on fuel testing and with experience in the bunker business. The Chairman may invite observers to the meetings.
2. Terms of Reference
The Terms of Reference for the Bunker Sub Committee shall be approved by the Council.
3. Aims
- a) Seek to encourage better understanding of bunker related issues for the membership.
- b) Give guidance to the INTERTANKO secretariat, so as to enable the promotion of the interests of Members with regard to bunker issues.
- c) Provide editorial and technical input to the White List as a means to inform and educate the membership.
4. Meetings and Reports
The Bunker Sub Committee will report to INTERTANKO’s Safety, Technical and Environmental Committee (ISTEC), through its Chairman. It is intended that the Sub Committee will meet twice yearly.
5. Chairman
The Chairman to be nominated by ISTEC for a two-year period. The INTERTANKO members of the Committee shall be nominated by ISTEC, and the Classification Society members will be invited by INTERTANKO.
6. Secretarial Work
The INTERTANKO office undertakes the secretarial and administrative tasks for the Committee.
