BENCHMARKING & MONITORING
GHG Toolbox
In today's increasingly competitive and regulated environment, fleet management efficiency is essential to staying ahead. INTERTANKO’s GHG Benchmarking Tool empowers Members to evaluate the performance of their vessels and fleets against anonymised data from the broader membership. By contributing data, Members gain access to valuable insights that can enhance both operational and strategic decision-making.
The key benefits of using the GHG Benchmarking Tool are outlined below:
- Comprehensive performance insights: Benchmark your fleet’s performance against anonymised data from industry peers, accessible only to INTERTANKO Members that contribute with data. This gives users a clear view of how their fleet ranks within the industry and may provide a competitive advantage in negotiations with charterers.
- Regulatory compliance clarity: Understand how well the ships are complying with current regulations and see how they benchmark against other leading fleets in the sector.
- Easy data sharing: No additional administrative burden. The tool uses the same reporting formats required by key ROs, ensuring a smooth, hassle-free data submission process.
Not only does this tool improve your fleet’s performance management, but it also contributes to INTERTANKO’s advocacy in shaping future environmental regulations by providing high-quality data that supports the tanker industry’s representation.

Data Upload & Formats
In the current version, Members can upload data in several ways:

- OVD files from DNV (CSV format)
- ERP files from ABS (Excel format)
- INTERTANKO Data Input Form (Excel format) [Download template]
Data can be provided at three levels of detail:
- Event-based: Each new event on board (e.g., Departure, Noon at Sea, At Anchorage, Arrival, etc.) is recorded as a separate entry.
- Voyage-based: Data is aggregated per voyage, with each voyage defined between key events (Departure-Arrival-Departure).
- Annual data: Aggregated data for each ship provided on an annual basis.
Note: Ships with annual-only data will have limited access to certain analysis features.
