Coronavirus (Covid-19)
The World Health Organisation on 5 May 2023 have declared that COVID-19 no longer constitutes a public health emergency of international concern. This means that the official designation of a pandemic is now removed.
The full statement can be found here.
Throughout the pandemic, INTERTANKO and other organisations have been at the forefront of providing advice developed by Members for Members. The guidance contained on these pages represents best practices designed to prevent the transfer of the disease.
Now that the pandemic is over, the threat posed by the virus has been reduced and so has become an established and ongoing health issue. This guidance will remain on the website as a resource for Members to use if a country of a port requires the implementation of control measures or, if following a risk assessment, the ship requires such control measures.
