"The coming years will be the transitional ones for the decarbonization of our industry. The future embraces changes and we must be flexible and agile to foresee these changes and take the proper strategic decisions.
What kind of energy goods will be needed and transported and what type of propulsion fuel(s) will emerge from the regulations are the topics of discussion and reflection. We need investments in new fuel production and infrastructure to support the transition along with the developments in engine technology and vessel designs.
Our Members should be continuously informed on the regulatory and technical developments as well as the safety aspects associated with. Our voice should support the level playing field of international regulations which will make the transition more efficient. But most importantly, our industry should prepare the seafarers of the future.
Our industry’s sustainability and resilience need immediate actions on training and attracting more people to the seafaring profession which should be viewed as a long-term investment. The HMP will be supportive to our members by providing the information needed and getting the feedback of their concerns and suggestions."
