Guide to Blending/Commingling of LPG Cargoes On Board Gas Carriers
22 May 2017
The GTC's first publication was developed to assist Members in the process of safely blending LPG cargoes and complying with SOLAS Regulations VI/5-2
In the inaugural meeting of the GTC, Members who participated expressed their concerns at the process of blending/commingling of LPG cargoes on board their ships and the lack of industry guidance on this issue.
The guidelines cover the following areas:
- LPG blending and SOLAS Regulation VI/5-2 1
- Blending and the associated hazards
- Blending during loading/discharge
- Blending while at safe anchorage or at layby berth
- Propane to butane and butane to propane
- Risk assessment, practical and commercial implications
"It is a very good publication and it will most certainly aid us as we have received several queries from our members regarding LPG blending."
Standard Club Director of Loss Prevention
