Guide to ESG Reporting in Tanker Shipping

Recognising the lack of accurate and meaningful guidance for the application of the main environmental, social and governance (ESG) reporting standards to tanker shipping, a Working Group consisting of over 30 INTERTANKO Members gathered information and shared their experience and understanding of ESG reporting principles, to develop guidelines and mapping tools for INTERTANKO Members. This will assist Member companies with establishing a foundation from which to develop or further build upon their ESG reporting policy.
INTERTANKO’s Guidance is supplemented by additional tools and resources to assist Members in developing their ESG Reports. These include:

- ESG Materiality Questionnaire: Guidance and Examples
- GRI and UN SDG Mapping Tool
- SASB and UN SDG Mapping Tool
A dedicated ESG resources page (intertanko.com/esg) has also been created for use by INTERANKO’s Members where the above documents can be downloaded and additional resources can be obtained, including reference to the main ESG Reporting Standards websites.
